What kind of computer to buy the best designer for a graphic?

I am an advertising graphic design major, and I'll buy all my new software for my classes (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.) I will buy a whole new computer because the one I have is very old and slow. My question is what kind / Brand of computer should I use the data I should adapt it to? (RAM, processor, etc.)

Most graphic designers use Macs. Get a MacBook Pro if you can afford it. Not only have most schools use Macs, but it is important to be very familiar with this type of computer, because when you graduate and try to to find a job, most employers require you to be familiar with them.
